The cook. The garage. The man who has been here the longest.

  • With us since 1994
  • Canoe Nova Craft Prospector 16
  • Paddle Grey Owl ottertail, until it doesn’t

Everyone calls him “Brick”, although nobody knows why. He has been in the club since the mid-nineties, which means he remembers Aluminum, Royalex, and at least one secretary who kept minutes in pencil. He has opinions about whiskey and knows when a beavertail paddle is better than an ottertail paddle. The crate of old photographs is in his garage. So is the extra Dutch oven.

He cooks as if feeding men in the woods were a trade. It might be. Chili, trout, too much garlic, coffee that could float a thwart. He will drink a beer while the fire comes up and another when the dishes are someone else’s problem.

The Prospector is his church. He likes rocker, volume, and a boat that does not mind being a kitchen. Arguments about Kevlar slide off him the way rain slides off a tarp that was rigged correctly.

If the contact form ever comes back, it will be because Brick found the old modem in a box and threatened it.
