Marcus showed up with a Kevlar boat and the patience to wait until we asked about it. The Minnesota II is a specialist. On a crossing he disappears ahead, then waits without making a show of waiting.
He does not write often. When he does, the sentences are short and the cooking gets described accurately, which Brick respects. He will host the ice-out look in March, which is a Marcus sort of job: go, see, do not invent a story if the lake is still closed.
